The University of Northern Iowa welcomes the community to participate in a virtual discussion on hate crimes in the Midwest, titled, “The Rise In Hate Crimes In The American Midwest.”
The colloquium, taking place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20 via Zoom at bit.ly/DiversityColloquiumOct21, will feature Gary Nachman, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

Future teachers studying teaching English to students of other languages (TESOL) at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) have a new opportunity for their field experience: working with emergent bilingual students in the Storm Lake Community School District (SLCSD).
The annual Economic Diversity and Inclusion Summit will be Friday, Oct. 22, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the newly renovated Waterloo Convention Center. Sailu Timbo, Vice President for Diversity and Community Relations, Hy-Vee Inc., will deliver this year’s keynote address.
The summit is focused heavily on providing employers and employees methods for diversifying their workforces and creating welcoming environments.

"Better Together" will be the theme of the 40th Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert, hosted by the UNI School of Music. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 at the Great Hall in the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (GBPAC) on the University of Northern Iowa campus.
The University of Northern Iowa Homecoming Parade is back this year and community members can register for the event through this Friday, Sept. 24.
This year's parade will be staged on Main Street in downtown Cedar Falls on Saturday, Oct. 2nd at 11 a.m., beginning at 9th Street and ending at 2nd Street. The event will be emceed by KWWL-TV Sports Director Rick Coleman and Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations Leslie Prideaux. The event will be live-streamed by UNI and KWWL-TV.
