The UNI School of Music will host a tuba recital performance by guest artist Øystein Baadsvik, with School of Music artist Vakhtang Kodanashvili, piano, 8 p.m. Oct. 24 in Davis Hall, Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on the UNI campus.

The University of Northern Iowa will bring together key members of social and educational programs in a conference dedicated to examining and addressing the challenges facing underrepresented populations in the Cedar Valley, including immigrants, racial minorities and members of the LGBTQ community.

  UNI NEWS SERVICES - Theatre UNI will kick-off its 2019-20 season with Marja-Lewis Ryan’s award-winning play, “One in the Chamber” Oct. 24-26 and Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at 7:30p.m. and Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. in the Strayer-Wood Theatre on the University of Northern Iowa campus.

  The University of Northern Iowa's American Chemical Society (ACS) student chapter, in collaboration with students from the biology, physics and earth science departments, will host their annual "Halloween House" from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 25, on the second floor of McCollum Science Hall. The event is free and open to the public. The activities are intended for children, and costumes are encouraged.

The University of Northern Iowa Gallery of Art, in association with the UNI Department of Art, will present the "2019 Department of Art Faculty Exhibition" from Wednesday, Oct. 16 through Saturday, Nov. 16. The open reception begins at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the Kamerick Art Building (KAB) south lobby.

  The University of Northern Iowa’s department of marketing will host the inaugural Digital Marketing Forum from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Center for Energy and Environmental Education (CEEE 11) on campus. The event is in partnership with nationally recognized digital marketing agency Spinutech, and a number of other business and community leaders will present at the conference, including two Google executives.

The University of Northern Iowa is gearing up for a weekend packed with activities open to the community and Panther families from Oct. 18-20.  FRIDAY EVENTS The Panther volleyball team will host the Drake Bulldogs at 6 p.m. Oct. 18 in the McLeod Center. Tickets are $7 at the door.   The Orchesis Dance Company will have two free performances during the weekend starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18. A second show will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20. Both events will be held in Bengston Auditorium in Russell Hall.

The University of Northern Iowa's department of languages and literatures will host five speakers for the 2019-2020 Hearst Lecture Series throughout the academic year. The first lecture will feature Sandra Cisneros, poet, short story writer, novelist, essayist, performer, community activist, and artist, at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28, in Lang Auditorium, on UNI's campus.

The UNI School of Music will host an unaccompanied tuba recital performance by guest artist Austin Crumrine at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. in Davis Hall, Gallagher Bluedorn on the UNI campus.  Austin Crumrine is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate in tuba performance at The Ohio State University where he serves as graduate associate for the tuba/euphonium studio. He received his Bachelor of Music in tuba performance from the University of North Texas (UNT) and his Masters of Music in tuba performance from Baylor University.
