UNI accounting program giving graduates a head start

When looking at institutions, Derek Hertges knew he wanted an accounting program that would prepare him for the real world. 

Thanks to the Masters of Accounting program, a growing venture from the UNI College of Business Administration, he was given the tools to thrive in his professional career. The program seeks to get students into the workforce faster and more prepared than peers at other institutions by allowing them to take classes that cover undergraduate and graduate requirements simultaneously.

Recently, Vikings made their way into video games with the release of “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,”  the latest installment of the popular video game series that follows a Viking raider through a conquest of England.

Some hopeful news arrived last week as hospitals across the country began administering the first COVID-19 vaccine approved in the U.S. The Food and Drug Administration is expected to clear another vaccine for emergency use this week. Initial supplies of both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are limited and are only available to health care workers, but last week was widely viewed as an important step in ending a global pandemic.

As a teenager in 1950’s small-town Iowa, Marilyn J. Bohl dreamed of becoming a sports writer. A high school guidance counselor advised against it, saying it wasn’t a viable career for a woman. 

“You’re a smart girl Marilyn, you’ll figure it out,” was the counselor’s advice.
