UNI NEWS SERVICES — A new partnership between the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) and Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) aimed at helping location-bound students in Des Moines earn a college degree through UNI received a $1 million boost this week thanks to the generosity of UNI alumni.

UNI NEWS SERVICES - The University of Northern Iowa announced a change to the name of its marketing department to reflect long-held entrepreneurial values that in recent years have surged in popularity for current and prospective students. The new name, the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, was approved by the Board of Regents at a June 4 meeting and both reflects and legitimizes the department’s commitment to teaching the mindset, values and strategies of entrepreneurs.

  UNI NEWS SERVICES - The University of Northern Iowa announced changes today to the fall semester, including an early return to campus as well as modifications to classrooms and other spaces to enable safe social distancing. In an email to campus earlier today, President Mark A. Nook said the semester will begin one week earlier, a move many colleges and universities have made to provide scheduling flexibility during the winter flu season.

The Board of Regents today approved the University of Northern Iowa’s request to again keep its tuition flat in the coming academic year as part of an ongoing effort to provide students with an affordable, high-quality education. The vote in a public meeting today marks the second straight year UNI has kept its tuition flat amid rising concerns of the affordability of higher education, which have been punctuated by an economic downturn and rising unemployment rate fueled by the global pandemic.

UNI NEWS SERVICES– The University of Northern Iowa is currently accepting applications for the Managing Business and Organizations (MBO) Bachelor of Applied Science program, which will be offered online for the first time starting in August.  The program is designed to help adult learners build upon the skills and knowledge acquired during their Associate of Applied Science degree through the development of professional competencies needed to serve effectively in managerial and supervisory roles.

UNI NEWS SERVICES - Students at the University of Northern Iowa will receive as much as $2,200 in federal aid beginning this week as the university works to distribute funding available through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act - financial assistance designed to help students impacted by COVID-19.
