CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Iowa Academy of Education will sponsor a public forum at the University of Northern Iowa featuring Iowa Department of Education Director Ryan Wise from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 20, in the Budke Auditorium in Schindler Education Center. Wise will talk about "The State of Education in Iowa: Challenges, Opportunities and Key State Initiatives."

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa--The UNI Textiles and Apparel program (TAPP) will present its 26th annual fashion show at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 21, in Lang Hall Auditorium. The theme this year is  “UNI Fashion Week,” which plays off of New York Fashion Week. Spectators should expect to see a variety of garments that include traditional sewn pieces and non-traditional constructive pieces.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Jolene Zigarovich, associate professor of languages and literatures at the University of Northern Iowa, was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant for her work on the 18th-century British novel that will focus on the historical facts concerning funerary practices in Britain and the culture's overall relationship with mortality. Zigarovich's project title is "Death and Corpses in the 18th-Century British Novel," and her award amount is $6,000.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa—The University of Northern Iowa is proposing an undergraduate resident tuition increase of $209—or 2.8%—for the 2018-19 academic year. The Iowa Board of Regents will provide the first of two readings on the proposed rates for all three Regent universities on April 11-12 in Council Bluffs.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa College of Business Administration has developed a program that combines a study abroad opportunity with an internship experience. This program ensures that UNI students are equipped with a unique skill set that will allow them to thrive in today’s global economy. The program starts with on-campus classes and concludes with a six-week unpaid internship in Italy.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Each spring, the University of Northern Iowa selects distinguished graduates to participate in the Alumni in Residence program. These accomplished alumni return to campus to speak with students about their professional experiences and help them make connections between what they learn in the classroom and practice in the professional realm. The selected alumni also meet with faculty groups to discuss current trends and issues in the workplace, tour campus and visit with student organizations about how extracurricular experiences can open doors during their job search.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Heather Carver, author of "Booby Hatch," a comedic look at breast cancer, will perform her autobiography at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, at the University of Northern Iowa. At 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, Carver will speak about her own experiences with breast cancer. Both the performance and presentation will be held in the Lang Hall Interpreters Theatre.
