The Northern Iowan student newspaper is celebrating its 130th anniversary at the University of Northern Iowa.

UNI partners with award-winning documentary ‘Women of the White Buffalo’ to raise awareness of Missing & Murdered Indigenous Relatives crisis

To raise awareness regarding the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Relatives (#MMIR) crisis, the award-winning documentary “Women of the White Buffalo” will be shown at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 10 in the Lang Hall auditorium on the University of Northern Iowa campus. A discussion with Native panelists who will share their own perspectives in regards to the ongoing public health crisis will follow the film at 7 p.m.

Tales of the Bulgarian Rose

​ "Tales of the Bulgarian Rose," a photojournalistic journey into Bulgaria's rose industry, is now on display at Rod Library until December 19. A reception will be held on November 7, 5:30 pm - 7 pm, with artists' comments and light refreshments. Undertaken in 1997 by UNI instructor Rick Truax and UNI professor Anelia Dimitrova, this documentary project chronicles Bulgaria's transition to democracy through the lives of those that worked in the country's iconic rose industry. The University of Northern Iowa Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry will welcome Patrick Fier to speak as part of this year’s Leland Wilson Lecture Series. Fier will present “The Importance of Organic Chemistry in Developing New Medicines” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the Lantz Auditorium in McCollum Science Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
