Open Access Week is October 21-27, 2024, with the international theme "Community over Commercialization." UNI will celebrate on October 22, 1:00-5:00pm in Rod Library 301 (ScholarSpace) and via Zoom, with an afternoon of speakers and discussion focused on free information and a reception. A keynote from Abbey Elder, Open Access & Scholarly Communication Librarian from Iowa State University, will take place at 1:00 pm and focus on the basics of Open Access. All faculty, staff and students are welcome and encouraged to come and go as they are able.

Human Resource Services will host an informational session on retiring from UNI, for faculty and staff planning to retire soon or in the foreseeable future. Participants will learn guidelines and benefits available at retirement from UNI. This hour-long session will take place on Thursday, October 17 at 10 a.m. in Gilchrist 009. Part of the RSP Training series, final accounting is the financial reconciliation of your sponsored project, which helps you take a "final look" at your project and all the expenses related to your project. This Zoom session will guide you through the final accounting process for sponsored projects at UNI. Please register in advance.

Nominations are now being accepted for the Regents Staff Excellence Awards. All nominations must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 7. Please consider nominating a colleague for a Regents Staff Excellence Awards. The awards are presented annually to those P&S employees from Regents institutions who have made outstanding professional contributions during their careers. Any Regent employee (at any Regent institution and of any classification) may nominate a P&S employee for this award. Candidates must have been employed at least half-time for a minimum of five years as a P&S staff member at the University. Nominations must be for a single individual- nominations are not accepted for a team of employees. Nominations may be submitted here.
