The September 2024 OBO newsletter is now available. 

Celebration of Research & Scholarship - Thurs, Sept. 26 | 3-4:30 PM

Located in Maucker Union Ballroom A, this annual reception recognizes all of the faculty, staff, administrators and support staff who contributed to seeking and receiving external funding in FY 2024. President Nook, Provost Herrera, Associate VP for Strategic Initiatives and Dean of GROE Stephanie Huffman, and others will provide remarks. Refreshments are served. No registration necessary and all are welcome.

Preparing Your IRB Application - Wednesday, October 2 | 10-11 am

Are you ready to prepare an IRB application, but you just aren't sure where to begin? Join IRB Administrator Lisa Ahern for a basic "How-To" Zoom session on using Cayuse Human Subjects, the IRB application system. Learn where you can find resources to build supporting documents for your application and common mistakes to avoid. Please register in advance.

Wellness Coaching Sessions

Find your way in wellness by signing up for Wellness Coaching. Through meeting with a Wellness Coach, you have the opportunity to explore your character strengths, focus on your health and well-being goals, and obtain resources. Wellness Coaches can provide support related to stress management, self-care, healthy sleep habits, time management, social connection, budgeting, finding balance, creating a routine and more. Wellness Coaching is a confidential service available to all UNI students, offered by UNI Student Wellness Services. Salary Negotiations Workshop

Dr. Russell Guay is hosting a Salary Negotiations Workshop for any student interested in gaining tips for negotiating job offers and those desiring to expand their knowledge on the field of negotiations. Financial Wellness: The Basics of Estate Planning

Join Justin Dams, with Veridian Investment Services, as we discuss: what to know about estate planning, living trusts and duties of a living trust executor or trustee. This session will take place on Thursday, October 10, at 11 a.m., in Gilchrist 009. Please register in advance.

Open Melt Night

Everyone is welcome at the AFS UNI Chapter Open Melt Night on Wednesday, September 25 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Applied Engineering Building Foundry. Learn all about metal casting from Grede, a top U.S. foundry. Participate in a hands-on experience by making a mold or choose to learn about the metal casting process from observing students. Free pizza and drinks are provided. Long pants and closed toed shoes are required. 

Faculty and Staff Headshots - September 30

University Relations will be holding a headshot day for faculty and staff on Monday, September 30. Time slots are available from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Headshots are taken in the University Relations photo studio, 105 E. Bartlett. Please sign up in advance to reserve your spot. Once photos are ready, they will be housed in Photoshelter and can be accessed via CatID log-in.
