Open melt night with the UNI American Foundry Society

The UNI AFS Student Chapter will be hosting an open foundry event at the Metal Casting Center on Tuesday, August 29 starting at 5 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m.  The event is sponsored by Grede Foundry, an automotive metal casting company with several locations in the Midwest area.  Guests will be able to make a mold of a commemorative UNI coaster that will be cast in iron.  Participants planning to attend are strongly encouraged to wear long pants and footwear that covers the whole foot.  Food will be provided by Grede. Come and enjoy an evening with the UNI AFS Student chapter student members.

Help with Panther Welcome & Welcome Week

The Office of Student Success & Retention is ready to kick off the Fall 2023 semester with Panther Welcome and Welcome Week, starting Wednesday, August 16. In order to offer all the wonderful activities for students, we need your help to assist with the various events throughout the week. All those who volunteer will receive an official Panther Welcome shirt. Sign up to help or ask questions by emailing the Panther Welcome team.

My Well-being: Understanding Alcohol

Whether you are at a family gathering, tailgating before the big game or joining colleagues for happy hour, alcohol is often the beverage that brings people together. EFR Prevention Specialist Penny Seidenkranz will explore binge and heavy drinking, the effects alcohol has on the mind and body, how to approach conversations around responsible drinking and provide resources to assist individuals wanting to help themselves or a loved one. Fall 2023 Billing

The Fall semester U-Bill will be available in your Student Center on Wednesday, August 2. This includes your tuition, mandatory fees and housing & meal plan and due on Sunday, August 20. Questions can be directed to student.accounts@uni.edu or 319-273-2164.

Social Work Ethics Training

The UNI Department of Social Work is hosting a Social Work Ethics Training on Thursday, September 21, 2023 in Maucker Union Ballroom from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. UNI faculty, students and staff are welcome to attend this event for free. Please register by Tuesday, September 5. Participants will understand ethics in the social work profession, develop an awareness of the interplay of personal values and professional behavior and apply ethical decision-making frameworks through enhanced use of critical thinking skills. For additional information contact Jenny Becker.
