Grant enables research into success strategies for underrepresented entrepreneurs

The Kauffman Foundation has provided a grant for research as part of the Black Capital Study + Projects, which will be carried out by Lindi Roelofse, the T. Wayne Davis Chair in Entrepreneurship at the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (UNI JPEC). The grant aims to support research initiatives that focus on exploring the journeys of underrepresented entrepreneurs and the challenges they face on their path to success.

After a successful 30-year career in finance, University of Norther Iowa alum Jeff Quint ('85) felt pulled to follow his true passion and in 2005 opened Cedar Ridge Distillery in Swisher, Iowa, the first distillery to open in the state since prohibition. Cedar Ridge Distillery has since become the top bourbon maker in the state, producing more than 200 barrels a month.
