UNI Homecoming Parade returns, heads to downtown Cedar Falls

The University of Northern Iowa Homecoming Parade is back this year and community members can register for the event through this Friday, Sept. 24.

This year's parade will be staged on Main Street in downtown Cedar Falls on Saturday, Oct. 2nd at 11 a.m., beginning at 9th Street and ending at 2nd Street. The event will be emceed by KWWL-TV Sports Director Rick Coleman and Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations Leslie Prideaux. The event will be live-streamed by UNI and KWWL-TV.

‘Indigenous students belong here’ UNI crafts close relationship with Native tribes

On Tuesday, a half-day of campus listening sessions to help develop a planned mission stewardship statement acknowledging UNI’s presence on Indigenous land was capped by a presentation and dance performance by Larry Yazzie, a renowned Meskwaki fancy dancer, in the Strayer-Wood Theatre.

UNI announces public celebration with the Meskwaki Tribal Council

The University of Northern Iowa is pleased to announce a public celebration with the Meskwaki Tribal Council as the two entities work to develop a new mission stewardship statement for UNI. The goal of the statement is to guide the university’s mission in ways that honor Native and Indigenous people on campus and throughout the community.

New UNI-CUE scholarships lift local students

Four local students were the inaugural recipients of a new scholarship from UNI-CUE. The scholarship can be renewed each year and will provide $2,000 per semester for the students, who were part of UNI’s TRiO programs, to pursue their higher education dreams.
