Jamison Whiting, a corporate attorney at a prestigious Minneapolis law firm, is a positive force in his community, driven by his experience at UNI and a desire to help underrepresented communities.
The Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) has acknowledged Joseph Rayzor, director of Risk Management at the University of Northern Iowa, as a recipient of its Outstanding Service Award on November 15, 2022 during its Annual Commission Meeting held in Columbus, Ohio.
After a successful 30-year career in finance, University of Norther Iowa alum Jeff Quint ('85) felt pulled to follow his true passion and in 2005 opened Cedar Ridge Distillery in Swisher, Iowa, the first distillery to open in the state since prohibition. Cedar Ridge Distillery has since become the top bourbon maker in the state, producing more than 200 barrels a month.
The American Association of State Colleges and Universities named University of Northern Iowa President Mark Nook to its Board of Directors at the association’s annual conference. Nook is one of six new board members nominated to serve a three-year term, expiring in 2025.
This semester, University of Northern Iowa students in the clinical mental health counseling graduate program had the opportunity to put their skills to work by facilitating support groups for caregivers of people with dementia.
To raise awareness regarding the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Relatives (#MMIR) crisis, the award-winning documentary “Women of the White Buffalo” will be shown at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 10 in the Lang Hall auditorium on the University of Northern Iowa campus. A discussion with Native panelists who will share their own perspectives in regards to the ongoing public health crisis will follow the film at 7 p.m.
