The University of Northern Iowa is once again bustling with life as students return to campus, settle into dorms, houses and apartments and start their first full week of classes. For new students — whether they be freshmen or transferring juniors — so many new people, places and experiences can be a bit overwhelming, but those who have been at UNI for a few years have some great advice to offer.
A new scholarship will give one business student a full ride to UNI, including tuition, books and room & board. Marcelo Acosta, a student at East High School in Des Moines who will attend UNI in the fall, is the first recipient of the Noel Scholars program, created thanks to a generous gift by Rick (Accounting, ‘90) and Lisa Noel.
In what has become an annual tradition, the University Northern Iowa will once again be hosting a booth at the Iowa State Fair and joining in the 11-day celebration of all the incredible things Iowa has to offer.
Meskwaki youth in grades eight through 12 recently participated in a hands-on art project with the UNI Public Art Incubator to craft their own sculptures.
Starting in fall 2023, students from Iowa's sister state Kosovo will be able to complete select bachelor's degree programs at UNI through a 2+2 program.
