Cedar Valley Degree Links partnership to provide accelerated degree options for Waterloo students

Waterloo high school students will be able to earn multiple degrees in just four years while paying only two years of tuition thanks to a new partnership between the University of Northern Iowa, Hawkeye Community College and the Waterloo Community School District.

UNI to offer new online degree option for the Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs Master of Arts program

The University of Northern Iowa is pleased to announce a new fully online option for the Master of Arts (MA) degree in postsecondary education: student affairs. Scheduled to begin August 23, this new option delivers the same high-quality curriculum as the on-campus program and is taught by the same dedicated faculty, with the added flexibility of an online format.

AmeriCorps environmental program at UNI continues to grow

UNI’s Green Iowa AmeriCorps program recently received a $1.1 million federal grant that will fund thousands of statewide community environmental service projects. The three-year grant will support 114 service members who will partner with 24 organizations across Iowa to carry out projects in residential energy efficiency, environmental education, land restoration and water quality.

New federal legislation introduced today would promote sustainable food practices and food waste reduction by partnering research centers like one at the University of Northern Iowa with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. UNI has been instrumental in working with Congress to develop legislation that will bring effective and sustainable solutions to reducing food waste.

MidAmerican Energy invests in UNI@DMACC partnership

MidAmerican Energy has invested $250,000 in UNI@DMACC, a partnership between the University of Northern Iowa and Des Moines Area Community College, to advance this first collaboration of this size and scale between an Iowa Regent university and community college. UNI@DMACC is a 2+2 program specifically designed for students to complete their first two years at DMACC, with the remaining two years of coursework to be completed online through UNI.

As director of UNI’s Institute for Decision Making, Drew Conrad helps organizations and communities build better futures through informed decision making. His work was recently recognized when he received the Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI) Leadership for Iowa award, but making impactful change has been a lifelong passion for the UNI alum and Washburn native.
