UNI was the first school in Iowa, and one of the first in the nation, to use synthetic cadavers - also known as syndavers - in its classrooms, and has since become a model for other institutions across the state when it comes to integrating the use of syndavers into its programs.
Hands-on learning is at the heart of a UNI education, and that’s especially true for the industry-focused Department of Applied Engineering and Technical Management.
Olivia Chambers has faced immense challenges since losing her sight. It’s taken a lot of adjustment, help from her coaches and teammates and learning how to re-orient herself in the pool, but she is still racking up wins. Most recently, she made the 2023 U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Team roster.
Thanks to a generous gift, the number of acres of restored prairie developed and managed by the Tallgrass Prairie Center at the University of Northern Iowa will soon triple in size.
